A Slave No More

Standard

Whose slave are you?

Now I know the ways in which we normally consider the word slave, but let’s take it a step further. Consider slavery in terms of your mental, your spiritual life. Who or what consumes your thought life? Whose opinion or reactions dictate how you govern yourself? Who or what is subconsciously controlling you? Who do you think about more than GOD? Whose opinions matter to you more than GOD?

The answers to these questions will allow you to determine who your slave master or masters are. Here are a few examples:

  • It’s the job that you hate that takes you away from the people you love, and is not utilizing your full potential or gifts, while subtly making you believe you’re not good enough for anyone else to hire you.
  • It’s the person you had intercourse with last night that’s not your spouse, and does not view you as marriage material, yet you strongly desire to sleep with them again and an even more serious relationship.
  • It’s the act of going to church, yes church, out of habit with no desire to worship and no desire to be fed, nor to be changed by the Word being brought forth.
  • Its the obvious addictions: like gambling, sex, shopping, drugs, food, alcohol, porn, people, etc.
  • It’s the need for attention, even negative attention.
  • It’s need to stir up drama and create discourse.
  • It’s gossip and slander
  • It’s the need to be validated
  • It’s the need to assimilate
  • It’s fear, anxiety and non clinical depression
  • It’s a lack of Faith

These are all things that gain us no real benefit. Now of course one could dispute the benefits, especially from the things that bring immediate gratification. If we are honest, after the immediate gratification we are still left empty, looking for the next opportunity to experience fleeting pleasure with no real substance. A slave in the sense that you work real hard, depleting all you have, or your most valuable resources: time, money, dignity, self respect, virtue, confidence, strength, body, health, etc, expending all your energy with no real, lasting payout. Nothing of real intrinsic value to take away from your labor. No spiritual value. Nothing that’s pleasure to  GOD. You’re a slave….

One could go on and on, but the fact is we are all in bondage to something. Some of us know, acknowledge, seek change and pray for deliverance. Others don’t recognize, deny, make excuses, are just not ready for change and simply don’t want to involve GOD.

Truth be told GOD is our only way out from the vicious slave mentality. Stop walking around like zombies believing you’re free. Make self introspection habitual, make Prayer habitual, make positive growth and change habitual.

Some depend on the actions and responses of others to change. This means you become a slave to another persons correction for you to be better. The true mark of valuing ones self and the ultimate mark of greatness comes when you become the Master of yourself, looking inward and upward for the change. Change that you can attribute, not to man, but directly to GOD.

A slave no more….

Ich Liebe Dich Alle! ❤️
